Okay, I stole the title from J.D.'s blog on Scrubs. And it's not even relevant to this post. But it's funny! Eh, eh?
I really want to make a list, but I can't think of anything to make a list about. Hrm.
My Top Ten Most Favorite TV Shows! (with commentary)
- The Office (US edition) - A bad episode will make me fall out of my chair laughing, and a great episode will make me pee my pants. (Ooh, what about those episodes that make me fall out of my chair AND pee?) So many people can relate to these charming characters, which is one reason why it's so popular. Me? I'm a combination of Pam and Kelly's personalities, but I look like Jim's little sister. Seriously. My mom thinks it's creepy.
- Gilmore Girls - It's no secret that I want to be Alexis Bledel when I grow up. I'm Rory, my mom is Lorelai, my dad is Luke, my dog is Paul Anka, I'm from Connecticut, I have a Korean best friend, I have a Paris (who is also shorter and blonder than me, like Rory's Paris), I eat a lot more than people think I do, and most adults like me. But alas, I am not exactly like Rory. Coffee scares me and it's Brown, not Yale.
- Scrubs - The most underrated show on television today, which bumped it up to the #3 spot. I laugh at least every two minutes at the INSANE characters, yet the show manages to be heartwarming as well. Plus, I am Elliot Reid, even more than I am Rory Gilmore. We grew up in exactly the same town (she had an apple orchard, I had an apple tree...close enough), we both went/go to Brown, we're absolutely neurotic, say 'frick' all the time, mustn't be spoken to when we're on the toilet (or face the consequences!), and get made fun of as skinny little white girls from culs-de-sac in Connecticut.
- House - I like it better than Scrubs in many ways, but it's getting too popular for my liking. But it's super awesome because House IS Sherlock Holmes (solves mysteries, abusive personality, has drug addiction, has a Watson named Wilson), and Hugh Laurie is disheveledly handsome. Plus he rowed for Cambridge (yay crew!). And I love this new season and his new dream team (for the most part). And when will House and Cuddy hook up already?
- Lost - Come back to me! In withdrawals after Season 3's cliffhanger. This is the smartest show I've ever seen, and I tend to shy away from mindless programming (cough Grey's Anatomy cough). The writing is phenomenal, the characters incredibly developed and diverse, and the acting and producing impeccable. End the writer's strike so we can figure out how they get off that damn island!
- The Daily Show - This is literally how I get my news. Or got, rather, since there are NO NEW EPISODES! Growl. Jon Stewart should be the next president. I kid you not.
- The Colbert Report - Pronounced "the Colbear Repour". This is different from the Daily Show in that Stephen assumes this outrageous political pundit character. My favorite thing about the Report is Stephen's phobia of bears, since that's my school's athletic mascot. Plus, Stephen technically ran for president for a while, and if none of these other guys (and girl) step up their game, I'm using a write-in ballot. Stewart/Colbert, '08!
- The O.C. - We've had a turbulent history, you and I. Season 1 = awesome. Season 2 = not so much. Season 3 = I don't really know, since I tuned out. Season 4 = sad, because they canceled a good thing! Now, I don't relate to anyone on this show, but s'ok. It's just fun to watch the drama play out, and I actually most enjoyed the storylines involving the adult characters.
- Criminal Minds - Bounced down this far because Mandy Patinkin left. ("You killed my father...prepare to die!") It's still pretty awesome, though. I don't usually go for crime shows, but this one is different than the twenty billion CSIs and Law and Orders out there. There's actually character development (ça alors!). But I can't watch it right before I go to sleep, because it gives me nightmares.
- Gossip Girl - A show I watch because The O.C. is gone. Same producer, different coasts. Filthy rich kids from the Upper West Side of Manhattan instead of Orange County, CA. Scandals galore, constant infidelity, and angst. Not to mention the pretty, pretty people. It gives me something to do Wednesdays at 9 to distract me from schoolwork. It also helps keep me up to date on pop music, since I'm out of that loop. Is it normal that I know indie music way better than pop?
I love making lists. And hey, I can go as off topic as I want, eh?
